Ryan Olson is a seasoned financial leader with deep experience in nonprofit and public sector accounting, data systems, and operational strategy. As Controller at LACAHSA, Ryan is responsible for building and overseeing the agency’s financial infrastructure—ensuring rigorous accountability, strong internal controls, and the seamless integration of budgeting, procurement, payroll, and reporting systems.
Ryan plays a central role in shaping LACAHSA’s fiscal strategy from the ground up. He leads the implementation of agency-wide accounting systems, enforces financial and labor compliance standards, and works closely with the Auditor-Controller and CFO to develop LACAHSA’s annual budget and financial reporting practices. Known for his analytical rigor and integrity, Ryan is also focused on strengthening transparency and aligning the agency’s financial systems with its broader mission of advancing housing affordability across Los Angeles County.
Before joining LACAHSA, Ryan served as Director of Budgeting and Finance at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, where he managed a $100M annual budget and led enterprise-wide upgrades to financial systems, ERP tools, and Medicaid reporting processes. His leadership helped streamline operations across 18 departments and 900+ employees, while improving accuracy and responsiveness in financial decision-making.
Ryan holds a Master of Science in Accounting and a BA in History from the University of Colorado. With a background that spans grant compliance, public audit readiness, and system implementation, he brings both technical expertise and collaborative leadership to LACAHSA’s finance team.
