FAQ

What is LACAHSA?

The Los Angeles County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency (LACAHSA) is a new entity dedicated to addressing the housing affordability crisis in Los Angeles County. LACAHSA works across the public and private sectors to promote the production, preservation, and prevention of affordable housing throughout the region.

LACAHSA’s core mission is to tackle the affordable housing challenges faced by Los Angeles County. Its primary goals include:
1. Production: Expanding the availability of affordable housing across the county.
2. Preservation: Ensuring the sustainability of existing affordable housing units.
3. Prevention: Reducing homelessness and preventing displacement through supportive housing initiatives and services.

LACAHSA partners with a variety of organizations, including community development financial institutions (CDFIs), local governments, public housing authorities, and philanthropic entities. These partnerships help to maximize resources, build comprehensive solutions, and ensure that all communities, especially those most affected by housing inequities, are served.

LACAHSA’s operations and programs are funded through a combination of sources including Measure A funds, County of Los Angeles loans, grants, donations, and other revenue streams. These funds are allocated to ensure the continued development of affordable housing solutions and support services.

LACAHSA offers a range of services to foster affordable housing, including but not limited to:
– Policy development and implementation.
– Strategic planning for housing initiatives.
– Coordination with municipalities and regional stakeholders.
– Outreach and education programs to raise awareness about housing opportunities.

LACAHSA offers opportunities for community members and organizations to get involved in its projects through volunteerism, partnerships, and by staying informed about public meetings and workshops. Visit our website for more information on how to participate.

LACAHSA has been actively working with CDFIs and philanthropic organizations to expand funding for affordable housing and recovery efforts for those impacted by wildfires in the Los Angeles County region. This includes increasing resources to rebuild homes and create new affordable housing options for affected communities.

LACAHSA’s strategy focuses on long-term solutions that include expanding housing production, stabilizing the affordable housing market, and addressing the immediate needs of communities affected by displacement or natural disasters. Future plans also emphasize creating more flexible funding models for developers and stakeholders in affordable housing.
